Ohio LinuxFest 2009

The seventh annual Ohio LinuxFest will be held in Columbus Ohio on September 25-25, 2009. We will be celebrating 40 years of unix. Unix pioneer Doug McIlroy will be giving an address about how unix was invented at Bell Labs. Doug was there at the beginning of unix. He was the manager of the research department at Bell Labs that included Dennis Ritchie and Brian Kernighan. Doug is credited with the invention of unix pipes!

There are loads of other great talks lined up. Canton Linux Enthusiast Scott Courtney will be co-presenting a talk on the history of the Mainframe VM operating system and the parallels with unix, and how that lead to the Linux on Mainframe revolution.

Registration is required to attend. The cost is very low. The supporter package only $65, and includes lunch and a tee shirt. The professional package includes that plus a full day of classes on Friday, September 25. An free package is available for students and first timers.
